COVID-19 Social Distancing Guidelines

HUMC COVID-19 Social Distancing Guidelines

Dear HUMC Family,

We will have two services at 9:00 AM and 10:30 AM keeping each service to 30 minutes in length. Both services will be live streamed for those who wish to continue joining online. There will be no coffee fellowship between or after services at this time. We will follow these guidelines for worship minimally for the summer and reassess in August if we can lift some or all these guidelines. Please read the following carefully.
Guidelines for service:
• The main entrance will be the only entrance allowed to enter and exit the church.
• Worshipers are asked to arrive no earlier than 10 minutes prior to the start of service and will be asked to exit the service and church directly after service ends. Please note we ask all who attend to not stand and visit in the narthex prior to or after service. This is to allow orderly entry and exit from each service and maintain social distancing. As we know many of us have not seen each other for a while and will want to catch up, please feel free to visit in the parking lot at your discretion.
• Ushers will assist in entry and exiting from the church to provide for social distancing and parishioners safety. This will include opening the doors on entry and exit as well as releasing the congregates in an orderly fashion at end of service.
• The parts of the church accessible at this time will be the sanctuary, narthex, first set of bathrooms, and cry room. The rest of the church will be blocked off to any access.
• Strongly encourage use of masks. We will have masks available for use if you need or want one.
• Every other pew will be closed to keep social distance with others and we ask 6 feet between family groups in the same pew. All pews will be wiped down between services by janitorial staff.
• All hymnals, bibles, directories, etc. have been removed from the pews and bulletins will not be used during this time only the overhead screens.
• There will be no more than 2 hymns or worship songs per service.
• Offering will be taken by placing two offering plates near the doors in the rear of the sanctuary. Please place your offering in the plates on entry to or exit from the sanctuary if giving.
• No children service will take place in either service as well as the nursery will be unavailable.
For those who wish to join us in person, we encourage all those in higher risk categories (i.e., pre-existing conditions, elderly) to consider continuing to join us online in lieu of in-person. If you are in the category and do join us in-person, we would encourage you to join us for our first service with the second service for those not in a higher risk category. Additionally, we encourage everyone to practice socially distancing while at the church.

We would like to thank those on the Admin Council for all their commitment, discernment, and hard work to ensure we provide the safest environment possible to join in worship and fellowship. Additionally, we thank you for your patience and prayers as we made these decisions. We look forward to joining soon in worship and fellowship.
